Mindless scrolling

One brain against many is a losing battle

Many researchers proved the correlation between social media and anxiety, low self-esteem, lack of passion, and addiction also introduced to us the terms Mindless Scrolling or Zombie Scrolling.

It’s not a secret anymore but still we as a society didn't change our behavior or our perspective toward social media, we are so deep in the matrix to the level where we have the truth in front of us but choose to ignore it.

It has been disclosed that social media companies hire attention engineers to implement on social media platforms, the same methods they use in the casinos, to keep the user hooked, the platform was designed to make the user addicted, it’s not a side effect, this was planned from day one, all notification sounds, shapes, text, and the timing when we get it or how frequently we get it was designed to hype the user.

The fact that they made it so easy to access is terrifying, it won't take much to download an app with well-designed attractive icons, then your brain has to battle against all the algorithms not to become addicted to the dopamine rush when it hears the notification sounds or when the feed is filled with customized updates based on your browser history.

One brain against many is a losing battle, and we as users have no chance, I think we should ban social media, especially for kids it should be hard regulated and not just a check box you mark that you are above the legal age.

If you can't live a day without refreshing your feed then at least be aware of how much it’s affecting you, and be aware of the fact that it is not free! the best advice I can give is, to observe your behavior, and be aware of how much time you spend scrolling, how it makes feel, and how you will feel if you decide to ignore the notifications you get.

By monitoring your behavior you will understand your subconscious you will be more connected to yourself, and when you reach that level it would be harder for your mind to go into zombie mode, but that doesn't mean that you are protected against the algorithms.

You should always keep in mind that those companies subsist on your time and attention, and would push anything to your screen to keep you attached.
