Valtteri Bottas receives penalty points for incident with Daniel Ricciardo

It was a scrappy race for Valtteri Bottas.

In the last portion of the Hungarian Grand Prix, things were starting to get scrappy for Valtteri Bottas. After contact with Seb Vettel earlier, Bottas would be running with a damaged wing which hampered the effectiveness of his downforce.

2018 Hungarian Grand Prix race start — (Image: Mercedes AMG)Coming into turn one, Daniel Ricciardo had the pace on Bottas and made an outside move diving deep into the corner. While it looked like a clean move, simultaneously, Bottas locked up and made contact with Ricciardo.

This was determined to be more than a racing incident, and Bottas was given two penalty points on his driver’s license along with a 10 second time penalty to be added on after the race. Luckily for both drivers, they were able to continue and finish the race.
