Is Passion Something You Lose with Age?

You know those people who have a passion? I envy them. I’ve always wished I had one.

Does eating count? I like to eat.

Those are just the Steves! There are so many people that are so passionate about so many things … and then there’s me.

Does sleeping count? I like to sleep.

Do I Have a True Passion

Yeah, so I don’t know if I have a true passion at all. There are a few things I really enjoy and a few topics I have strong opinions about, but I haven’t taken any action on them really. This is why I always struggled to write an editorial when I was the editor of a weekly newspaper. I didn’t have strong opinions on most topics. Mostly, I was in the gray zone; I didn’t see things as black or white. Usually, I could see both sides, so I could have written an editorial pro or con on most topics except for littering and animal cruelty. With the latter, I include people who do not spay or neuter their pets! We have so many pets in shelters that need a home! When I see some lazy, irresponsible piece of shit posting on Facebook that their cat had kittens and they need to get rid of them, it makes my blood boil. Why didn’t they get their pet fixed? Now, there are six more cats that won’t get adopted from a shelter.

I guess I am passionate about that!

Creativity is something I’m passionate about and have been since a young age. I guess I never really thought of creativity as a passion before because it includes so many things. I immensely enjoy music, writing and photography, but I don’t know that I’ve considered them as passions. Maybe they are more like hobbies that I really like. Well, I did go to college to become a writer, so there’s that. I tried and quit music lessons twice. I’m a photo-taking nut (just ask my husband), but I’ve never had formal training.
