Want to code but don’t know where to start from? You’re not alone, every newbie coder has this phase. While taking my first steps to the coding world I too had millions of doubts and was not sure about how to start.

If you are having doubts about how to start coding, and you feel the need for proper guidance then you are at the right place. Here are 5 easy steps to learn how to code so that you don’t struggle as I did.

The wide variety of programming languages and their equally important benefits might feel overwhelming and create doubts when it comes to choosing a language. There is no right answer to this question. What basically matters in coding is logic building, and logic is the same irrespective of the language you code with. I started coding using C language and this was one of the best decisions I ever made. There are some benefits of choosing C as your first programming language.

It’s just a suggestion based on my experience, feel free to choose any programming language of your choice, every language has its own benefits. I started coding using C but after 6 months I switched to Python.

You can always switch to any programming language according to your need and interest.

The more you work on the basics, the stronger will be your foundation as a coder.

Start from understanding the building blocks of coding,

Additionally, whenever you learn a concept try to use it in a program. For example: After learning loops, write a program using loops to print a pattern, and try different approaches, like using a while loop first, then try to implement the same program using for loop. This will help you familiarize yourself with the concept.

There are some famous coding programs that are a must for every beginner, they will help you in understanding how to build simple logic in programs.

There are numerous basic-level coding questions for beginners, I’ve mentioned a few above. Once you become confident in solving these basic level questions, you are good to go to the next step.

After being able to code simple programs and build simple logic, it’s time to learn DATA STRUCTURES AND ALGORITHMS (DSA). Many beginners avoid learning Data Structures and Algorithms as they think that it’s too complicated but we are not going to make this mistake.

There may be different ways to solve a problem, but Data Structures and Algorithms will help you in finding the optimal solution to the problem. Knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms will help you ace every coding interview.

Now, this is the most important and the most ignored step. Many people start coding, learn the basics of coding, learn the Data Structures and Algorithms and then they stop.
